Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

This policy explains how KODX (“we”, “us”) handles personal information in connection with PhantomCP, our website, and product support. The current release of PhantomCP is distributed through the Mac App Store.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, or share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing.

Using PhantomCP

PhantomCP connects from your Mac to servers you choose using SSH and SFTP. It accesses server addresses, account names, credentials, configuration, files, logs and other server information as needed to carry out the actions you request. Those actions can also send information to services you configure, such as a backup destination or an outgoing email provider.

If you choose to save SSH passwords or keys, the macOS app uses the macOS Keychain. You control the servers you connect to and the third-party services you configure. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.

Analytics and reporting

The current version of PhantomCP does not include usage tracking, analytics or automatic crash and diagnostic reporting. If we introduce optional reporting in the future, we will explain what information it sends and obtain your consent before enabling it.

Information you send to support

When you email us, we receive your email address and any information you include, such as your name, purchase reference, screenshots or diagnostic details. We use this information to respond, investigate the issue and provide support. Please remove passwords, private keys and unrelated personal information before sending files or logs.

App Store purchases

Apple handles App Store payments and processes purchase information under its privacy policy. Do not send us payment card details. Apple may provide sales or purchase-related information through its developer services; information we receive is used for purchase administration, accounting and support.

Website preferences and external services

Our website stores your selected colour theme in your browser’s local storage. You can remove that preference by clearing site data in your browser. The current website does not include advertising trackers or analytics scripts.

The website loads fonts from Google Fonts. This causes your browser to contact Google, which receives network information such as your IP address as part of that request. See Google Fonts privacy information.

When you visit a website, network requests include technical information such as an IP address and browser information. Website hosting and delivery providers may process that information to deliver pages and protect their services.

When information may be shared

We may use service providers to deliver the website, handle support communications and administer our business. They may process information needed for those purposes. We may also disclose information when you specifically request or authorise it, or when required or permitted by applicable law, including to respond to a lawful request or protect legal rights.

Consent to one purpose is not consent to unrelated uses. Where a new use requires your consent, we will explain it and obtain that consent before proceeding. Service providers may process information outside your province or country, where local laws may allow authorities to access it.

Retention and protection

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including support, recordkeeping and legal obligations. We take reasonable steps to protect information in our custody and to delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can contact us to request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, request deletion, or withdraw consent where applicable. These requests are subject to applicable law and any necessary recordkeeping requirements. We may need to verify your identity. Withdrawing consent may affect a service that depends on the information.

For information held by Apple or a service you use independently, contact that provider. You can also raise a privacy concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or another authority with jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change, and provide additional notice or request consent where required. Posting an update does not itself provide consent to a new use of your information.
